But who is Devendra Fadnavis?
Devendra Fadnavis, born on July 22, 1970, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He holds a law degree from Nagpur University and a postgraduate degree in Business Management. Fadnavis began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and was elected as the youngest corporator of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the age of 22.
He served as the Mayor of Nagpur from 1997 to 2001. In 1999, he was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Nagpur West and later represented Nagpur South West. In October 2014, Fadnavis became the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra, serving until November 2019.
During his tenure, he focused on infrastructure development, urban planning, and economic reforms. Notably, he was the second-youngest Chief Minister in Maharashtra’s history. After the 2019 elections, Fadnavis briefly served a second term as Chief Minister in November 2019.
In June 2022, he assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, serving alongside Ajit Pawar. Fadnavis is married to Amruta Fadnavis, a banker and singer, and they have a daughter named Divija.
